Our Objectives:

The aims of the Kyle of Sutherland Fisheries Trust are to advance public education and support research conservation initiatives that will benefit the freshwater fish resources and associated habitat of the region and to preserve for future generations a valuable part of Scotland`s natural heritage.

What we do to acheive these objectives: 

  • Assist with gathering scientific data to be used as a benchmark for strategic management of the Kyle of Sutherland habitat.  
  • Secure and provide sustainable finance in support of projects and initiatives by encouraging membership, partnership and private donation.
  • Offer and distribute information and advice to those involved with managing, living within and using the fisheries and catchment area habitat.
  • Involve the local community in appreciation of the valuable resource that is the Kyle of Sutherland habitat through educational initiatives.

The Trust is governed by a Board of Trustees consisting of people drawn from a cross section of local interests representing some of the Trust`s objectives.

The chairman is Charlie Brooke and fellow Trustees are John Green, Gregor Macleod, George Ross, Jonny Shaw, Keith Williams, Michael Brown & Donald Morrison.

The Director is Iain McMyn, Project & Finance Director is Pete Campbell and the office assistance is provided by Key Commercial Services Ltd of Bonar Bridge with the key contact being Audrey Campbell.

Communities of the Kyle of Sutherland

Dornoch, Portmahomack, Inver, Tain, Clashmore, Spinningdale, Edderton, Ardgay, Bonar Bridge, Culrain, Invershin, Lairg, Rosehall, Croick. The Kyle Trust follows the foot print of the Kyle Board.
 

Rivers and Lochs of the Kyle of Sutherland

Kyle of Sutherland Tidal Zone, River Evelix, River Carron, River Shin, River Cassley, River Oykel, all tributaries and lochs. There are some 163,647 ha, 70 miles of principal rivers, 400 miles of tributary rivers, 11 large lochs, 50 smaller lochs as well as over 20 miles of tidal estuary within the catchment.
